Maple honey is a rare treat. Many bee keepers who live in areas heavily populated with maple trees will not get a chance to harvest it. We had a break in the cold damp spring this year just long enough to catch the nectar flow and we where able to harvest plenty to share. Maple trees bloom early in spring when the weather is wet and cold so the bees are not able to bring a lot back to the hives most years, usually just enough to start the queen laying heavily. This Maple honey comes from Sultan, WA and is from big leaf maple trees.
Maple honey is quite, different from our other honeys it is rich and smooth with a hint of mint some say it is buttery even. The 2017 maple honey is milder then past years and very delicious.
